10 After Care Tips For Skin Camouflage

17/10/2017

10 great skin camouflage after care tips, with advice on use with your own make-up, moisturising lotions, sun creams, shower and bath oils.
Picture
  1. Topical medication may be applied underneath, sun protection under or over and make up over the set camouflage.
  2. Regularly wash your brushes, powder puffs and sponges with a hand wash or soap. Rinse and store away dry.
  3. Gently massage and thoroughly remove camouflage daily with a cleanser. Remove with damp cotton wool or wipes.
  4. Do not wear tight clothing or accessories on the covered area. Friction will cause removal or transfer of the product.
  5. Avoid moisturising lotions, creams, shower and bath oils which will create a 'slip effect'.
  6. Household detergents will remove the camouflage.
  7. If possible take a shower not a bath. Avoid excess heat e.g. saunas and steam rooms.
  8. When your skin becomes wet, gently pat your skin dry, do not rub.
  9. Store products away from direct sunlight. Dispose of products after the 'use before date' has expired.
  10. Apply the camouflage preferably in natural day light.

Please note:
  • If a skin reaction occurs remove all traces of the products immediately from the skin.
  • Seek medical advice as soon as possible.
  • Do not apply products over rashes, open wounds, surgical stitches or infections.

A Daily Routine of 10 minutes can Create this Level of Skin Camouflage Coverage

Description:

Necrobiosis Lipoidica is an uncommon inflammatory condition in which shiny, red-brown or yellowish patches develop in the skin, usually in young adults and in early middle age. The condition is most commonly seen in conjunction with diabetes - both the insulin-dependent and non-insulin-dependent types.

Source: Necrobiosis lipoidica - British Association of Dermatologists

Aim:

A skin camouflage application must be practically possible for the patient to achieve, however, Necrobiosis can be a challenge due to the thinning of the skin and range of colours.

In this case, the patches of Necrobiosis on the legs required a specific application of cover creams to block out the ‘ring effect’ created by the red border. This was achieved by working from the inside, out. The natural skin colour cover cream was then applied ensuring the central yellow section was completely blocked out. A ‘stippling’ effect using Rose completed the colour match. This application will tolerate fine hosiery and loose clothing for 24 hours.

Outcome:

  • 20 minutes consultation
  • 30 minutes prep + colour matching
  • 40 minutes patient tuition
  • 15 minutes aftercare and SCS Essentials Kit

The application of cover creams took a while to work out but with patience and hundreds of cover cream combinations to choose from along with good day light we achieved a realistic daily application.

Conclusion:

Daily routine of 10 minutes can create this level of skin camouflage coverage.

Giving You the Confidence to Face the World with Skin Camouflage

The use of Varama Cover Creams is not always for tattoos, birthmarks or skin conditions such as Vitiligo, Acne, Rosacea or  Melasma. Cover Creams can be used to cover dark circles under the eyes, bruises and also to camouflage side effects from prescribed medicines.

Treatment Care:

For sensitive areas of the skin we advise the use of our Treatment Care products. These complement our cover creams and drop-ins. We also have specialist Treatment Care products which are for the treatment of scars, cuts, burns and cosmetic procedures. Others assist with pigmentation and SPF creams that help moisturise your skin and protect it from the sun.

Before & After:

Skin Camouflage for discolouration around the eyes

Products Used:

  • Heliocare 360 Fluid Cream
  • Varama Cover Cream VC1
  • Varama Cover Cream VC3

Testimonial:

“The redness is a side effect of the medicine which I have to take for forever. The other eye is the same, but look how your cream covers it and no one ever knows. It's brilliant.

Thank you about the advice for broken skin… but it's just the eye drops that makes it look so sore.”
