A Senior Medical Officer commented "Skin Camouflage is a therapy that can significantly improve the appearance of a disfigurement of a serviceman or servicewoman due to a medical condition or an injury. It not only improves the physical appearance of those affected, but can have huge benefits in alleviating the negative psychological impact these disfigurements can have on both the service personnel and their families."
The session was very well received and further training will continue. A nominated medic will provide the skin camouflage service to the Army Personnel and operate from their base. Vanessa will provide on going support and mentoring as well as all the necessary documents to implement patient care.
A presentation then followed in the afternoon by a Consultant in Pain Medicine. Burns management and pain control were discussed and played a key role underpinning the soldiers learning.
